It's Not a Comeback, It's the NFL Rivals Resurgence

Rivals, don’t you dare call it a comeback!

As we continue charging toward Year 2, we’re ready for a Resurgence, our new program launching today, lasting 5 weeks until July 4 and saluting the NFL greats whose performances may have slipped, but ultimately recovered for a stellar renaissance.

We have new packs, new cards, a new program currency, a new game-changing feature launch, and major improvements to Squads coming in Resurgence. Read on to learn more about what’s coming!

Squad Management Improvements

We wanted to make the process of managing and joining a Squad easier and more robust, so we enhanced the permissions component accordingly:

• open: anyone can immediately join if they meet requirements
• request only: anyone can request to join if they meet requirements
• invite only: can only join the squad if you are invited to join by a leader or owner
  • players can accept this regardless of whether they still (or have ever) met the requirements
  • players will get an option in their account settings for whether or not they are able to be invited (so no one gets sent too many invites)

Additionally, Squads can apply these settings to have the experiences they want:

• chat language preferences
• minimum power to apply
• minimum league to apply
• allow kicked members to re-apply

We'll continue rolling out more improvements to Squads as we go.

Collection Synergy Arriving Soon

We want collecting cards to be fun and perpetually rewarding, so we’re introducing the new Synergy feature. Cards will feature grids with conditions for increasing the PWR by holding other cards in your inventory that satisfy those conditions.

NOTE: Synergy is due to launch next week.

For example, a card could receive +5 PWR if you hold 5 cards from the same team or 5 cards from the same program. This feature is designed to bring more value to all of the cards in your collection and help take supply out of the market as players will be more incentivized to hang onto their cards.

This feature will expand in phases during the offseason, with more opportunities to earn bonuses from collecting dropping approximately once per month.

Note that all Synergy settings are subject to being reset in August with the launch of Year 2, after which they are expected to last the whole year.

Our weekly Hero cards are the Rivals picks for players we think are due for an upswing in the 2024 season, that are ready for a Resurgence of their own. Here’s that list for the weekly Legendary Hero events:
